CV Editor is the tool at the top of this page: a form on the left, a live A4 preview on the right, and an Export PDF button. There is no account, no watermark and no paid tier, and your CV is never uploaded - the importing, the layout and the PDF are all done on your own device.
Open a PDF exported from Word, Google Docs, Pages, LinkedIn or another CV builder and the editor works out your name, contact details, sidebar lists, roles, dates and bullet points, and picks up the photo and accent colour. See how PDF import works.
The export is built from standard PDF fonts with real text, not a picture of a page, so recruiters can search and copy it and applicant tracking systems can read it. Phone, email and web lines become clickable links.
Drag roles, bullet points and sidebar items into the order you want. A page counter shows how long the CV is running, and a warning appears if the sidebar no longer fits on the page.
Optional round photo, per-role achievement lists with their own heading, page numbers on longer CVs, and separate body and heading fonts in Helvetica, Times or Courier.
Save data downloads your CV and saved themes as one small file. Load data on another computer opens it again. It is also the easy way to keep a version for each kind of job.
There is no server behind the editor that could receive a CV. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, and nothing about your visit is logged by this site.
Every design is included, and none of them adds a watermark. The templates page describes each one and who it suits.
Not sure which to use? Choosing a CV layout explains when a sidebar helps and when a single column is the safer choice.
Most online CV builders ask you to sign up before you can download anything, keep your work history on their servers, and charge to remove a watermark. A CV holds your phone number, your email address and a dated record of where you have worked. CV Editor is designed so that none of that has to leave your computer: the PDF reader, the layout engine and the PDF writer are all part of the page itself, and they work without talking to a server.
The site is paid for by advertising rather than by subscriptions. The about page explains how that works and how you can check the privacy claim for yourself, and the privacy policy sets out what the ad network collects.
A good layout only helps if the words are right. The guides cover the writing side:
Yes. Every feature and every design is free, exports have no watermark, and there is nothing to sign up for. The site is funded by the ads shown on it.
In this browser's local storage, on this device. It is not stored online, which also means it will not appear on your phone or another computer by itself, and it is removed if you clear your browsing data. Use Save data to keep a backup file.
The export contains real text in standard fonts, which is what those systems need. If you are applying through a large employer's online portal, the Single Column design gives the most predictable reading order. The ATS guide goes into the detail.
Usually, as long as the PDF contains text rather than a scan. The importer does not need the file to come from this site. It sometimes puts a line in the wrong place, and everything it read can be dragged to where it belongs. The import guide lists what carries across and what to check.
Exports are A4. The standard PDF fonts cover English and Western European languages, including accented letters. Scripts outside that set, such as Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic, cannot be shown. More answers are on the help page.
